Westside Youth Project works with young people, in the 10 to 21 age group, from all the estates that comprise the Westside area of Galway City.

We support young people in their social, personal and educational development through a variety of activities and programmes and through positive engagement with the community.

Our aims:

To support the needs of young people through an enjoyable educational experience in a safe, positive, supervised environment.

To promote the educational, personal and social development of young people living in the Westside area.

To work through partnership with community groups, statutory bodies and social partners in the prevention of early school leaving.

To provide an enjoyable range of activities and programmes for young people.

Our activities:

Individual and group work with young people 10-21 years of age

After-school homework supports and grinds

In-school education work focusing on young peoples strengths

In-school programmes supporting transition of young people from primary to secondary school

Hip-hop lessons

Film club

JIVE drop-in youth space

Westside Arts Festival

Cookery and drama groups

‘Rainbows’ and ‘Spectrum’ bereavement support groups

International youth exchanges

Outdoor fun days

Summer camps.

Portfolio preparation
